An audit entry is a dated snapshot of what a specific answer engine or search engine returned for a specific query on a specific date and time. It is a single observation — one system, one query, one moment — not a rolling average or a summary of many.
Every entry carries the fields below. The observation itself is a short summary of what the system returned; where relevant, the entry links to a saved copy of the response (screenshot or transcript) held in the project's non-public evidence archive.

§03What an audit does — and does not — say
- An audit records what a system returned on a specific day. It does not record a permanent state.
- An observation naming the recorded holder is weight 3 (independent — the system named the entity in the answer, not the project).
- An observation naming the recorded holder as a listing in a page beneath the answer, without naming the entity in the top-of-answer, is weight 2 (demonstrative).
- An observation naming the project's own domain in a top-of-answer citation without naming the entity is weight 1 (declaratory — the project is being cited as its own source).
- An observation returning nothing about the recorded holder is filed all the same. Losing observations are preserved on principle (see editorial policy LCCBCC-EP-028 rule 3).
§04What the audit log is not
- It is not a marketing chart. It records observations; it does not smooth them into a trend line.
- It is not exhaustive. The log is a sample of observations, filed on the dates the audit ran.
- It is not a claim about the recorded holder's actual market position outside the project. The project is a self-run review; the audit log records the project's own observations against its own target phrase.
- It does not name other contractors that appear in the answers. The project does not publish names of other Charlotte concrete contractors in a comparative context on any property in the network.
